The Concept
The PFI VERTEILER™ is a mechanically controlled fuel gas injection system for combustion engines of all types and sizes. It consists of a fuel gas distributor (Verteiler) and a fuel dosing unit (Mengensteller).
The fuel gas distributor ensures cycle-synchronous cross-sectional release, while the fuel dosing unit is used to adjust the fuel gas mass per working cycle and per cylinder with maximum precision.

How it works in detail
The diagram illustrates the interaction between the distributor and the fuel dosing unit based on dynamically measured gas pressure curves at different points in the system.
With a fuel gas pressure of only 10 bar, the measurements show different engine load points, with up to 30 mg of hydrogen per working cycle and per cylinder. The pressure measured directly upstream of the nozzle correlates with the instantaneous fuel gas mass flow and reaches its maximum approximately 90° after top dead centre, during the intake stroke.
This timing aligns the highest fuel gas flow with the highest intake airflow velocity, promoting excellent air-fuel mixture homogenization.
